Lost Person Behavior Class

The Lost Person Behavior course is a 16 hour class designed for SAR staff who wish to expand their knowledge and skills in SAR planning and mission management in order to locate missing persons more efficiently. The two-day course covers mathematical search theory, the use of the new International SAR Incident Database, historical data with current mission applications, and much more. The course covers missing persons with Dementia, despondents, hunters, hikers, children, persons with disabilities, substance abuse, missing aircraft, and other scenarios. Participants will come away with skills in using the LPB book’s various charts, reflex tastings, interview questions, basic mapping systems, and scenario based learning.

Course Length: 16 hours

Cost: $130 per student

Instructor: Jeff Wadley
Jeff Wadley has been in SAR for 45 years and most recently is a charter member of a new SAR team in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Jeff received the Smokies very first Preventative SAR Award, is an author of a book regarding missing aircraft, has been a Lost Person Behavior instructor for over five years , and has just under 200 missions under his belt. Jeff is an operational tracker, and a SAR instructor.
